Donavon Wilson

Donavon J. Wilson, 70, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at his home after a battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Mayville, N.D., the son of Theodore and Gladys Wilson. He had a career in truck driving that spanned nearly 40 years before he retired in 1998.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ted; and his sister, Joanne. Survivors include his wife, Melody, of the home; daughters, Donna Jacques and Betty Walker, both of Acushnet, Mass., and Shannon Bedford, Excelsior Springs; brother, Larry Wilson, Fargo, N.D.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Burial in the Masonic Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Friends were invited to call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or Burn Center.
