Edith Mae Edie
Edith Mae (Nickols Wasson) Edie, 84, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Friday, April 30, 2010. Mrs. Edie was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Des Moines County, Iowa, the daughter of George Raymond and Edith B. (Stonehouse) Nickols. She was married to Wendal W. Wasson Sr. on June 15, 1944. He passed away Sept. 2,1969. In 1971, she was married to John W. Edie. He passed away in October 1986. Mrs. Edie worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Burlington, Iowa, the Elms Hotel as a switchboard operator and at Whitaker Cable in Excelsior Springs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Nickols and an infant brother, George Raymond Nickols Jr.; two sisters, Velma Miller and Betsy Kurrie; a son-in-law, Paul Williams; a grandson, Michael Thomas; and a great-grandson, Jamie Clay Williams. Survivors include a daughter, Christine L. Williams of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; two sons, W. Wayne Wasson Jr. and wife, Linda, of Westminster, Colo., and Raymond E. Wasson and wife, Rose, of Richmond, Mo.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
