Esther "Tootie" Jenkins
Esther "Tootie" Jenkins, 81, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011. Esther E. "Tootie" (Blakey) Jenkins was born July 23, 1929, in Protem, Mo., to Nathan K. and Grace C. (Brown) Blakey. Tootie and her family have called Lawson their home since 1982. At one time she was an active member of Eastern Star and the American Business Women's Association (ABWA).
Tootie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Glendel Jenkiins of Excelsior Springs; her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donald and Carol Durham of Excelsior Springs, Terri Winningham of Lawson, and Tim and Stephanie Hammack of Paola, Kan.; one brother, Baxter L. and Barbara Blakey of Osawatomie, Kan.; four granddaughters; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; several nieces; and nephews and many loving friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, at Lawson Bible Church in Lawson. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial at 2 p.m. at Floral Hills. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Because of the love and care Tootie and her family received from everyone at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center and Excelsior Springs Hospice, the family recommends donations to these organizations in Tootie's name. She will be missed by many loved ones, friends and those who were touched by her kindness throughout the 81 years that God has blessed us all by letting us share her life.
