Eric Rasmussen
Eric Scott Rasmussen, 49 years old, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away June 1, 2013 at his home. He was born on February 10, 1964 in Kansas City, Mo., to Don and Georgia Rasmussen. Eric was always full of life and young at heart, he never met a stranger and was always a people person.
Eric entered the Army in 1982 and was honorably discharged in 1984. In 1989, he married Melissa Kalwei, they were married for 24 years, and he will be dearly missed by her. After he was discharged, he worked in customer service at a convenience store for many years, before he injured his back and had to go on disability, for the remaining years of his life. He loved Christmas and getting presents anytime, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He enjoyed working with new technology and was an avid collector of many things that included penguins, Marvin the Martian and Coca-Cola memorabilla, teddy bears, and green things. He enjoyed reading, shopping with his baby sister, watching movies (especially superheros and vampires), and many genres of music. He always lived life to the fullest and was loved by most everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Lee Roy Rasmussen, in February 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa; his parents, Don and Georgia; his sisters, Elaine and Erin; and many other family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2013 at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. Dress casual for services.
