Eldon Dean Schlegel

Eldon Dean Schlegel, 50, of Holt, Mo., passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014.

Eldon was born May 12, 1964 in Escondido, Calif., to David and Evelyn (Galina) Schlegel. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Eldon later worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a Supervisor of Operations. His most important job however, was his role as husband and father. He loved being with his children -- playing, singing and joking. He was known by his family as the funniest and most amazing Father.

Eldon was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Cope, and son, Keegan Elliott.

Survivors include his best friend and wife of the home, Michelle Schlegel; children, Shannon (Tiffany) Schlegel, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Schlegel, Landon Schlegel, Andrew Schlegel, Madeline Schlegel, Dawson Schlegel, Nicholas Schlegel, Mihaley Schlegel, and Macie Schlegel; grandchildren, Aiden, Chloe, and Jude Schlegel; father and step-mother, David and Phyllis Schlegel; grandmother, Doris Rorer; brothers, David (Kim) Schlegel, Kenneth Schlegel (Ralf LaBelle); sister, Joann Burkhart; sister-in-law, Diana Pletzer; numerous nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and extended family and friends.

Eldon was loved by his family and will be truly missed. Always and forever!

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Mo., followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery also in Kearney, Mo. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

A fund has been established to honor Eldon’s memory. Donations may be made to http://www.gofundme.com/schlegelfamily. Donation envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
