Edward T. Stein
Edward T. Stein, 90, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Nov. 8, 2009, at his home. Edward was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Kurt and Martha Ann King Stein. He was a lifelong farmer. He had been a member of Barbee Presbyterian Church since 1950, an elder for 21 years and deacon and treasurer for 30 years. He was also a member of Lions Club for 64 years, and the hospital board at Excelsior Springs Hospital.
He married the former Merletta Hartman in 1940. She survives. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana June Cox. Other survivors include son, Darrell Stein and wife, Sheryl, of Smithville; grandchildren, Malia Mabe, Brooke Pitzenberger, Darrell Stein II, Ryan Stein and families; also grandchildren, Marilyn Lynch, Michael Cox, Marie Bennett, Machelle Timmermans and their families. He also has 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Barbee Presbyterian Church, Excelsior Springs, with services to follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. The family suggests memorial contributions to Excelsior Springs Nursing & Rehab.
