Elaine N. Swope
Elaine N. Swope, 59, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away March 14, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Elaine was born June 29, 1952 in Dodge, N. Dak., to John and Anna Gliech Duttenhefer. She owned a bus company Hitch-N-Go, drove a school bus for 10 years for the Excelsior Springs School District, and was a reserve police officer for Excelsior Springs for 10 years.
She is preceded by her father and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Gene; daughters, Ila Grass and Toni Swope, both of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; stepson, Jerry Swope of McGhee, Ark.; siblings, Joan Lago of Peabody, Kans., Patty Fiedler of Mandan, N. Dak., Donnie Duttenhefer of Denver, Colo., Myron Duttenhefer of Dickinson, N. Dak., Matthew Duttenhefer of Shockape, Minn., Alice Zelinski of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Joel Duttenhefer of Dickinson, N. Dak., and Leon Duttenhefer of Kansas City, Mo.; grandsons, Brennon Grass, Garron Grass, and Justin Swope; and best friend, Leonora Cutting of Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday March 19 at Bross & Spidle Chapel, Excelsior Springs. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Donations in Elaine’s honor may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
