Frances Kathryn (Piehl) Blank

Frances Kathryn Blank, 72, of Kearney, Mo., passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on March 28, 2012. Frances was born December 1, 1939 in Sleepy Eye, Minn., to Joseph and Rose Piehl. She was a graduate of Mankato State University. She was a teacher for many years and worked at North Kansas City Internal Medicine for over 20 years. Fran had the most vibrant personality and more self-abnegating of any angel on Earth. She was an amazing cook, well known for her ribs, taco pie, and chocolate cupcakes.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard.

Survivors include her sisters, Barbara Roetzler of Buffalo, Minn., Kathy Grausam of New Ulm, Minn., and brother, Jerry Piehl of Sleepy Eye, Minn.; sons, Paul of Kansas City, Mo., Tim and his wife, Bobbie, of Kearney, Mo.; daughter, Christine Blank Dunn of St. Louis, Mo., and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Fry Bross & Spidle in Kearney, Mo., on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services at Church of the Annunciation in Kearney at 10 a.m. Saturday March 31. Burial to follow at Resurrection North Cemetery Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northcare Hospice.
