Floyd L. Ramsey, Jr.

Floyd L. Ramsey, Jr., 67, of Kearney, Mo., passed away at his home on December 6, 2014.

Floyd was born July 12, 1947 in the state of Maryland, the son of Floyd Ramsey, Sr. and Myrtie Taylor Ramsey. He graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a degree in music. In 1978, after graduating from college, he joined the U.S. Army. He served 20 years as a criminal investigator. He served in Viet Nam, Germany and throughout the United States. He married Joann Dueker on April 21, 1973. She survives.

Floyd was blessed with a beautiful baritone/bass voice and his love of music was shared often. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church choir for many years. He also served on many committees in the church. He loved to fish, garden, and travel. He and Joann were very active working with the Kearney Food Pantry.

Floyd is survived by his wife; his sister, Bernice of Jonesboro, La.; four nieces and two nephews.

Floyd was a special person who loved life and was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Kearney, Mo. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Memorial contributions in Floyd’s honor may be sent to the Kearney Food Pantry.

Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
