Frances Smith
Frances A. Smith, 90, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011. Mrs. Smith was born on Oct. 16, 1920, in Missouri City, Mo., to parents William and Fannie (Sloan) Albertson. On Jan. 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to Hampton Smith. They were married 46 1/2 years before he preceded her in death on July 16, 1995. Together they had one daughter, Kathy Sue. Frances attended school at Missouri City and Excelsior Springs, and she graduated from Excelsior Springs High School with the class of 1938. She had been a member of the Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs since 1931. She was also a member of the Mixers Class, United Methodist Women, Methodist Quilters and Susanna Women's Group, taught Sunday school and served on various committees of the church. She formerly worked at the Lake City Munitions Plant and Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Larry Bunse; two grandchildren, her pride and joy, Jesse Hampton BUnse and wife, Sarah, and Emily Grace Bunse of Cosby, Mo.; sister-in-law, Lena Scobee, Lawson, Mo.; and a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 6, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs or to Excelsior Springs Hospice.
