George Andrew Matthews
George Andrew Matthews, 54, of Lawson, Mo., passed away April 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. George was born October 22, 1958 in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia, to Gordon and Ellen Simmonds Matthews.
George had a passion for motorcycles he enjoyed riding, rebuilding, taking pictures, and taking great pride and care of his own. He also enjoyed tattoos and the fact he had every one of his children’s names on him. He worked as a Health Physicist working at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant for over 20 years. He also loved the outdoors.
George was preceded in death by his father, daughter, Tessa L. Matthews, and niece, Andrea Bates.
He is survived by his mother, Ellen Matthews; sons, Andrew Matthews, Sidney Matthews, and Mickey Matthews; daughters, Jessica Matthews, Vicki Matthews, Charlee Matthews, and Anna Matthews; sisters, Colleen Upton and Rosemarie Matthews; aunt, Diane (Billy) Matthews; 16 grandchildren; many other cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his best friend, Jessie Atwell.
A celebration of George’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday April 6, 2013, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to Bikers for Babies in his honor.
