Helen Clemons
Helen Clemons, 88 of Kearney, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on
Friday, January 4, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Helen was born on August 2, 1924 the daughter of Charlie and Lillian
Clark. In 1940 she married Josh Clemons and they moved to Kearney in
1950, where they raised their six children. Helen and Josh owned Clem’s
Café in Kearney from 1970 until 1984. Helen was a member of First
Baptist Church of Kearney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Josh, and a daughter, Terri
Karnes.
She is survived by five children, Judi (and Don) Williams of Kansas
City, Mo., Tom (and Evelyn) Clemons of Cameron, Mo., Roger Clemons (and
Nick Parrilli) of Cuyutlan, Mexico, Carol Lalumondier (and Bob) of
Kansas City, Mo., and Janet (and Steve) Maddox of Holt, Mo.; 12
grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and five great-great
grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the First
Baptist Church in Kearney. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday
January 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Kearney, with burial at
Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions made in Helen’s
honor to the Alzheimer’s Association “Heart of America Chapter”, 3846
West 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208-4126.
