Harold Bell Cole
Harold Bell Cole, 85, of Kearney, Mo., passed away July 10, 2014. Harold was born November 5, 1928 in Hayti, Mo., to Lawson and Lelia (Reeves) Cole.
In December of 1944, Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army as a 16 year old. He was a W.W.II veteran, serving his country as a member of the Army Air Corps and also serving in Korea. Later he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, and there he met Peggy Corbin. They were married July 20, 1963. Harold retired as a Master Sergeant in 1966. He then went on the teach ROTC in the Kansas City School District for 26 years, working at both Southeast and Van Horn High Schools. Harold was a member of Arley United Methodist Church. He was a man who loved to travel but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister, and son, Larry Cole on July 1, 2014.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Peggy; daughter, Samantha and Mike Burks; son, Dale and Brenda Cole; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Harold will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Arley Cemetery in Kearney, Mo. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Arley United Methodist Church.
