Harry Lee Morris

Went Home on June 24, 2015.

Harry Lee Morris was born in Henry County near Puryear, Tenn., on May 31, 1921, the son of Robert Love Morris Sr., native of Henry County and Lena Bethel Hall Morris, native of Benton, Ky.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Joyce Enfield Morris of the home; one daughter, Marylin Elizabeth Gallimore and husband, Pastor Steve of Puryear, Tenn.; three sons, Charles Eunice Morris and wife, Lois of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Walter Lee Morris and wife, Elaine of Richmond, Mo., Ralph Wayne Morris and wife, Dianna of Lawson, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Morris of Lawson; sister, Mary Lou Underwood of Jackson, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ello Bea Parker Morris; daughter, Regena Kay Morris; son, Harry Roland Morris; daughter-in-law, Bonita Jo Morris; grandson, Kristopher Lee Morris; four sisters, Beth Wilson, Margaret McQuiston, Mildred Frances Morris, and one stillborn sister; four brothers, William Benjamin Morris, Robert Love Morris Jr., John Carson Morris, and Thomas Hall Morris.

Harry entered the ministry as a Baptist minister, where he served for over 60 years. He came to Missouri in 1951 to attend William Jewel College. He pastored four churches, two of which he was the founding pastor. He supplied at over 75 churches in Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky. He worked with two struggling churches in Oklahoma and Colorado by raising necessary support and provisions for the people of those communities. After he retired, he served as interim pastor in two more churches. He preached revivals in Washington, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri. He had the thrill of seeing 10 young men from his congregations accept God’s call and enter into ministry. He served as a bi-vocational minister who supported his family by working at Ford Motor Co. in Claycomo for over 31 years, before retiring in 1983. His ministry came to a close as a member of Northern Hills Baptist Church in Holt, Mo., where he was given the position of “Honorary Associate Pastor of Senior Adults.”

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Vibbard Christian Union Church, with funeral at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2015, also at the church. Burial will follow at Lawson Cemetery, Lawson, Mo.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to VCUC Nursery Project or Northern Hills Baptist Church.
