H. A. Dickey

H. A. Dickey, 73, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2010 at North Kansas City hospital. H.A. Dickey was born March 20, 1937, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Opie and Velma (Summers) Dickey. On June 5, 1959, H. A. was united in marriage to Ruby Alice Robertson in Excelsior Springs. H.A. Dickey was the owner of Wilson Paint & Wallpaper for 34 years. H.A. was Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1986 and then Citizen of the Years in 2000. H.A. was an active member of the Optimist and Quarterback Club for many years. He was a devoted family man. He found great enjoyment in donating his time at the Community Senior Citizen Center by serving meals daily.

H.A. was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Don Dickey. In addition to his beloved wife of 51 years, he is survived by one brother, Ken Dickey; one son, Michael Dickey; and two daughters, Kay Carrico and Karla Harness. He was very proud of his six grandchildren, Matthew and Marissa Dickey, Emily and Ian Carrico and Jessica and Jennifer Harness.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Chandler Baptist Church in Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, also at the church. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of H.A. to the Community Senior Citizens Center, 112 Thompson Ave., Excelsior Springs, MO 64024. Att: Denise Bedford
