Irene Mabel Paneitz
Irene Mabel Paneitz passed away September 15, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Irene was born in Syracuse, Neb., on August 20, 1922 to Oliver and Bertha (Czeschin) Pope.
She grew up in Bland, Mo., where she worked at Brown's Shoe Factory in Owensville for 25 years. She married George Paneitz on February 8, 1957. The moved to St. Charles where their only child, Roger, was born. The family moved to Excelsior Springs, Mo., in 1959 and Irene remained there until her death. Irene worked as an Inspector for Gates Rubber Company and retired in 1990 after 30 years. She was a member of the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs.
Irene was a wonderful mother and grandmother. If a person was in need you could count on her to listen, lend a hand, and give great advice.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Bertha; husband, George; two sisters, Edna Garver and Ella Crowe; three brothers, Raymond, Henry and an infant brother.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Pope of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Roger Paneitz and wife, Cindy of Liberty; grandchildren, Stefanie Henry and husband, Jordan, Adam Paneitz and wife, Lila, of Kansas City, and Matt Paneitz serving with the U.S. Army; and great grandchildren, Dakota, Andrew and Noah Henry, and Adalyn and Lillian Paneitz.
Family visitation will be held at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo., 6 to 8 p.m. on September 18, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on September 19, 2014 at Old Bland Cemetery, Bland, Mo.
Memorials may be given to the Liberty Hospital Hospice or to the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs. The family thanks all for the loving care by family, Jan with Home Instead, Pat, Jane and Barbara with Hospice.
