John Paul Allemang
John Paul Allemang, 66, returned to his heavenly home on August 22, 2016. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his life.
John was born to Paul and Fran Allemang in Mattoon, Ill., on August 13, 1950. He graduated from Mattoon High School in 1969 and attended Joliet Junior College, where he played football.
He married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Millie Elaine Standiford, on September 26, 1970 in Mattoon, Ill. They had three children, Jason, Jamie and Kristi. He was employed by Norfolk & Southern Railroad until his retirement in 1997. John was an avid supporter of Kearney athletics. He loved to hunt and fish, share stories and spend time with family and friends. He had a life-long passion of showing the love of God through children’s ministry, as well as ministering to those within the prison systems. John was also an active member of the Northern Hills Baptist Church in Holt, Mo.
John never knew a stranger and will be deeply missed by all, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
John is survived by his wife, Millie; his son, Jason Allemang and wife, Karen of Kansas City, Mo.; his daughters, Jamie Clevenger of Kearney, Mo., and Kristi Jaros and husband, Nick of Olathe, Kans.; his grandchildren, Madison Clevenger, Rennik Jaros and Emelie Allemang; his mother, Fran Browatzki and step father, Bob of Middleburg, Fla.; his sister, Jane Milburn and husband, Don of Middleburg, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
John is preceded in death by his father, Paul Allemang and mother-in-law, Virginia Kennedy.
A visitation will be held at Northern Hills Baptist Church in Holt, Mo., on Friday, August 26, 2016 between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the church, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Kearney, Mo.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Allemang family at the services in support of Landon Jaros and Elli Cunningham. Both children are fighting cancer and John faithfully prayed for them daily.
