Remembering
Jerry Theodore Bryant

Jerry Theodore Bryant was born to the late Adam Bryant, Sr. and Elouise Thomas Bryant on January 2, 1939 in Wiergate, Texas. He completed his education at Wiergate High School.

After graduating from high school he worked for the Wiergate Lumber Co., he then went to Oakland, Calif., and spent time with his siblings. Jerry later enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was based at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas before he was transferred to the Ramstein Air Force base in Kaiserslautern, Germany. After returning from Germany he was stationed at Travis Air Force base in Fairfield, Calif. The remainder of his career took place at the McConnell Air Force base in Sedgwick, Kans. Jerry T. Bryant obtained the ranking of Master Sergeant during his 27 served years, he faithfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force. We honor his service today.

He married Alberta Guthridge on August 8, 1978. To this union no children were born, but Jerry embraced his lovely bride’s three beautiful children, William, Tina, and Darren. They were married for 37 blessed years. Their marriage will forever be a testament to what love truly is.

Jerry professed Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church, Wiergate, Texas. He rededicated his life to Christ on January 31, 2015 and was baptized by his son Rev. Darren Lee Guthridge. Jerry departed this life on Saturday, February, 14, 2015. The sum of his life expands beyond his earthly age due to his generous spirit and enormous love for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, Adam Bryant Sr. and Elouise Thomas Bryant; one sister, Emma Lee Roberts; and two brothers, Adam Bryant Jr. and Willie Lee Bryant.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his loving wife, Alberta Guthridge Bryant; daughter, Tina Bires (Matthew); two sons, William Guthridge and Darren Lee Guthridge (Kimberly); one brother, MacArthur Bryant; four sisters, Leatrice Smith, Erma Juniel (Laurence), Mary King and Gwendolyn Harrison (Hiram); seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Burial at 2:00 p.m. on February 19, 2015 at the Missouri States Veteran Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
