In Loving Memory of
Joyce Elaine (Winingham) Confer
Joyce Winigham-Confer passed away on September 25, 2016.
Joyce was born April 26, 1935, to Susie Arminda (Sanders)Winingham and Charles Vincent Marmaduke Winingham in Moniteau County, Lupus, Mo. Graduating from Henrietta, Mo. High School in 1953, she took much pride in her perfect attendance throughout her school years. She enjoyed her working years at DFAS, the Marine Corp Finance Center, and IRS. Joyce was an active volunteer for Truman Medical Center, teaming with her sister Carole and niece Tammy, to crochet and sew items each year for seniors and preemie babies. Joyce worked at the Clay County election polls for many years. Always community minded, she donated over 16 gallons of blood during her adult years to persons in need in the Kansas City area. She loved John Wayne westerns, Lawrence Welk, RFD, old country, old standards and Bluegrass music, camping, canoeing, animals, crossword puzzles, cooking/baking, crocheting, gardening both vegetables and flowers, and dearly loved vacations and day trips.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Victor Dean Confer; sister, Carole Sue (Winingham) Smith; niece, Sondra Jo Folkes; and grand-son, Taggert Don Confer.
Her marriage yielded four children, surviving are Covy Bret Confer I of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Janet Michele Confer of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Joy Linnea Confer of Riverview, Fla.; her brother and his wife, Jewel Vincent Winingham and Susan Mary Winingham; her brother-in-law, Myron Lee Smith; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in addition to many friends and relatives.
Being a Christian, she attended church with her gentleman friend, Dave, in Birmingham, Mo. The family will miss her but there is peace in our hearts because we know she has no more pain or suffering and she is safe with the Lord.
Joyce was a loving and devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. See you later, Joyce … until then we will carry you in our hearts everywhere we go and cherish the memories you’ve shared with us in life. May you rest in peace until we are together again.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2016 at Bross & Spidle Chapels in Excelsior Springs, with service immediately following. Interment at Hillcrest.
