John Morse III
John Elston Morse III, longtime resident of Lathrop, passed away
Saturday, January 5, 2013 in his sleep, at home, after his 12 year
battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Dearborn, Mich., to John
Jr. and Edith Morse, who preceded him in death. He served his country
honorably in the United States Navy from 1950 thru 1954.
John worked for Trans World Airlines as a reservations agent in San
Francisco and later in Kansas City, until his retirement in 1984. John
was wed to Karen Ruth Horan on September 23, 1960, who preceded him in
death in 2010. After his retirement, he and Karen spent many years
traveling and made many great friends. One of their favorite places was
Chippenham, England, where they made lifelong friends.
He is survived by his children, John and Kim Morse IV, Carol Stamper,
Kevin and Trent Morse, and Kathleen Morse. He is also survived by his
grandchildren, Brandon Morse, Megan Kline, Shelby Morse, and John Morse
V.
Loved by some, liked by the rest, he had an unassuming and generous
nature that will be missed tremendously. There will be no funeral; the
family will have a celebration of his life at the family home in
Lathrop, Mo., at a future date in early spring. In lieu of flowers the
family requests that donation be made to Liberty Hospice.
Arrangements provided by Bross & Spidle Funeral Home.
