Kenneth W. Clevenger
Kenneth W. Clevenger, 85, of Macon, Mo., died September 12, 2015, at a Columbia, Mo. hospital.
Kenneth was born on March 3, 1930, to Jewell S. Clevenger and Alma F. (O’Dell) Clevenger in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Kenneth grew up in Lexington, Mo., and graduated from Lexington High School in 1949. On June 7, 1950 he married Shirley Jeude. To this union, two children, Belinda and Kevin, were born.
Kenneth graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1959 and set up practice in Cameron, Mo., that same year. He was a chiropractic physician for over 35 years.
Shortly after Kenneth joined Old New Garden Church near Excelsior Springs in 1964 he began preaching and was ordained to the full work of the gospel ministry in 1966, a preaching career that spanned more than 50 years and included pastorships of several churches, including Old New Garden Church. In later years Kenneth and Shirley became members of Brush Creek Church, Goldsberry, Mo. , where he pastored at the time of his death.
Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents, brother, Norman Clevenger, and sister, Marjorie Rogers.
Survivors include his wife of over 65 years, Shirley; daughter, Belinda (Larry) Pearl, Union Star, Mo.; son, Kevin (Sherry) Clevenger, Quitman, Texas; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by funeral service, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Old New Garden Church, with his grandson, Elder Matthew Pearl preaching the funeral sermon, assisted by his son-in-law, Elder Larry Pearl, and Elder Tim Curtis conducting the graveside service. Burial following in the Old New Garden Church cemetery.
Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
