Kathryn M. Pence

Kathryn M. Pence, 92, Kearney, Mo., passed away October 31, 2013 at her daughter's home.

Kathryn was born August 22, 1921 to Charles and Allie May Chaney in North Kansas City, Mo. Her family moved to Kearney when she was two years old. Kate retired after working 27 years in the Clay County Courthouse.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kearney and a Rebekah. She received an award from the Clay County Democratic Central Committee thanking her for years of service. She was member of the 13 Bridge Club, and loved playing the piano. Kate was Grand Marshal of the Jesse James Festival one year and was in charge of the parade for many years. She worked on the Kearney Centennial Committee and volunteered at the Claybrook home on many occasions.

She preceded by her parents; husband of 47 years, Robert Glen Pence Sr.; her beloved sister, Ferne Klepper; and brother, Bobbie Gray, whom she was so proud of.
She is survived by two children, Bob and wife, Judy Pence, and Nancy and husband, Larry Webb; grandchildren, Tod, Tim, Trisha, Cathe’ and BJ; great-grandchildren, TJ, Christina, Landon, Lance, and Emma; great-great grandchildren, Caden and Karter; and niece and husband, Pat and Jim Munkirs.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kearney, Mo. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to The American Cancer or MS Society.
