Karen Alice Ryan
Karen Alice Ryan, 70, Lawson, Mo., passed away August 26, 2013. Karen was born July 17, 1943 in Sumner, Iowa, to Francis E. and Alice M. (Steuer) Ball.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Evan Francis Ball.
Karen is survived by her husband, Edmond P. Ryan of the home; sister, Kae Frances Schmit Emery of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Donna (Ryan) Potter of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren, Ashley, Niki, Samantha, Lisa, and Justin; two great grandchildren, Jerimiah and Lesia; two nephews, Kevan (Linda) Ball, Dennis (Lisa) Ball, along with many other relatives and friends.
Karen was a true country gal from Sumner, Iowa. She was an avid outdoors person. She loved gardening, flowers, plants, hummingbirds and horses. She also raised Pomeranian dogs. Karen attended Youngs Beauty School in Waterloo, Iowa. She later owned and operated Karen’s Beauty Shop at 17th and Summit in Kansas City, Mo. for 30 years before her retirement.
A memorial mass for Karen will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1503 Tracy Ave, Excelsior Springs, Mo. 64024. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. A luncheon to celebrate Karen’s life will follow at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church. Cards for the family may be sent to the funeral home.
