Linda Kay Gannaway
Linda Kay Gannaway, 74, of Kearney, Mo., and Eagle Rock, Mo., went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2016 after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. She was born on May 2, 1942 in Smithville, Mo., to Lawrence and Beulah Jones. She was united in marriage to Jack Gannaway on April 11, 1958 and celebrated 58 years of marriage together.
Linda worked for many years in various accounting positions until she and her husband bought Oak Hill Court, a 13 cabin trout fishing resort near Roaring River State Park. They operated the resort for over ten years before selling it and enjoying a peaceful home on Table Rock Lake. She continued to work part time in Roaring River State Park Lodge and Convention Center helping with their accounting needs.
Linda loved the outdoors and could out fish most! She and her husband taught their grandchildren to fish before they could ride a bike! She was involved in Missouri Stream Team, Kids Fishing Day and known for cooking up chili and apple pie for trout fishing closing day for many years. She loved all animals, especially her horse, Mr. Ed, and her beloved Scottie and Westie dogs, Fancy and Scooter. She was a fun, sassy, independent spirit and a friend to all.
Linda leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Jack; daughters, Sarah Plotycia and Donna Rosenthal (Al); grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor (Justin), Hannah, Lauren and Adam; sisters, Judy (Kenny), Carol Taylor and Joyce McCrery; and many additional cherished family members and friends.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, sister, Donna Munson, and beloved Scottie dogs, Spooker and Sassy.
We are deeply grateful for the loving staff and care of NorthCare Hospice and KU Cancer Center. She will be forever remembered and dearly missed.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney, Mo., with services following at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery, Smithville, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude or your favorite animal rescue.
