Lorraine R. Garvey
Lorraine R. Garvey, 87, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 following a period of declining health. She was born in Lowell, Mass., March 26, 1926 to Joseph and Beatrice (Daneau) Lamothe.
Prior to her retirement, she managed the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Lowell, Mass., and had been an assembly line worker, making stereos at Symphonics, calculators at Bomar, and clocks at Telechron. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, square dancing (including performing in the Disneyland Main Street parades), sewing, cross-stitch, and collecting Hummel figurines.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Garvey of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; her children, Ralph and wife, Katherine Sue McGarry of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Steven McGarry of Lowell, Mass.; grandchildren, Shannon (McGarry) and husband, Richard Clark of Maysville, Mo., and David and wife, Kathleen (Backus) McGarry of Hudson, N.H.; three brothers, Maurice Lamothe, Raymond Lamothe of Las Vegas, Nev., and Roger Lamothe of Wilson, N.C.; and sister, Beatrice (Lamothe) McGee of N.H.
She was also the sister of the late Gloria Thibeault, Alice Tarmey Peck, Paul, Leo, Joseph and Robert Lamothe.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, with memorial service following at 2 p.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
