Leonard G. Hays
Leonard G. Hays, 94, Kearney, Mo., passed away October 4, 2012. Mr.
Hays was born January 20, 1918 to Guy and Daisy Phifer Hays in Granger,
Mo., growing up around Green City, Mo. In 1942 he married Mary Jane
Yardley. Mary and Leonard have lived in the Kearney area for 35 years.
He was a U.S. Army W.W.II veteran and a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Kearney. Leonard retired after 30 years with Armco
Steel in Kansas City, Mo.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary; their three sons,
Gerald and wife, Nancy of Kearney, Mo., Gary and wife, Linda of
Parkville, Mo., and Jim and wife, Carolyn of Urbana, Mo.; five
grandchildren, Michelle Fine, Cheryl Lowden, Cody Hays, Jarred Hays,
and Jenna Hays; four step-grandchildren; and five great grandchildren,
Carly, Cole, Taylor, Jack and Katie.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at
Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1 p.m.
Saturday, October 13, 2012, also at the funeral home. Burial following
in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Kearney, Mo.
