Loreen Southwick

Loreen Southwick, 96, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away February 28, 2012.

Loreen was born April 4, 1915 in Camden, Mo., the daughter of Jess and Myrtie (Bailey) Brown. Loreen and her family moved to Excelsior Springs when she was 5. She attended Excelsior Springs schools graduating in 1932. Loreen retired from J.C. Penney in 1980 after 26 years. She was one of the oldest and longest living members of Woods Memorial Christian Church.

Loreen is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Maretta Glasgow and Erma Lee Zuklin, and brother Joe Brown.

Loreen is survived by her children, daughter, Carren and husband, Max Snider, and son, Ben and wife, Janice Southwick; grandchildren, Terri (Lance) Hamilton, Kim (John) Martinez, Kevin (Cookie) Southwick, Susan (Todd) Schapira; and great-grandchildren, Alec and Anna Martinez, Abigail and TJ Schapira.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Woods Memorial Christian Church.
