Lucille Stewart

Lucille P. Stewart, 104, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009. Lucille was born March 23, 1905, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., the daughter of John Allen and Phrata Huett Allen. She married Van Osborn Stewart. He preceded her in death. She was a lifetime resident of Excelsior Springs, the oldest member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Excelsior and a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Excelsior. She had been a telephone operator, helped her husband in their restaurant, played piano for silent movies and loved working at Excelsior Springs Hospital and area clinics as a volunteer.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Isom, Excelsior Springs; son and wife, James A. and Johnnie Maidment, Lebanon, Mo.; son and wife, Bill and Linda Stewart, Excelsior Springs; son and wife, Gary and Joyce Stewart, Excelsior Springs; brother and wife, Clifford and Billie Rose Allen, Excelsior Springs; one nephew; two nieces; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. An Easter Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center Activities Program.
