Mary F. Henley, 73, of Kearney, Mo., suddenly passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Mary was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Newton, Iowa, to Charles and Vivian Stelplugh Fries. Charles passed at a very early age and Vivian married J.R. Jackson; together they lovingly raised Mary in Chillicothe, Mo. Mary graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1955. At one neighboring dealership a young man named Don Henley from Marshall, Mo., was working selling cars. Don thought that the pretty little redhead would make a fine wife. He was right. Mary Fries married Donald Henley on Nov. 12, 1960. Together they owned and operated Henley Motor and Equipment Co. in Kearney for more than 20 years until they retired in 1999. Mary and Don shared 47 wonderful years as husband and wife until Don's passing in 2008. Mary was an active member of Kearney Community Covenant Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mary will be missed by everyone whose life she touched and cared for.
