Michael Linnenburger

Michael Clyde Linnenburger went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 31, 2011, at his home. Mike was born in Belleville, Ill., on Feb. 18, 1954, the son of William and Darlene (La Bonte) Linnenburger. He spent his early years in Topeka, Kan. In 1966, his family moved to Hamilton, Ill. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1972. He attended Western Illinois University until he went to work for Thomas Truck in Keokuk, Iowa. Following this, he spent the rest of his life working in the farm implement business. He was very proud of the fact that he had driven over 1 million miles in his career. He married Valerie Lynn Bricker on Sept. 11, 1976. They spent their early years of marriage in Hamilton, then moved to MIssouri when he began his sales career, making Excelsior Springs their home in 1988.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie; three children, Jason (Heather) Linnenburger, Amelia (Shawn) Dallas and Marci Linnenburger; and five grandchildren, Michael Linnenburger, Bricker and Gavin Dallas, Tori Repine and Jamison Logan. Also surviving are his brother, David Linnenburger; two sisters, Cindy (Roger) Kirby and Lisa (Jeff) Ours; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one sister.

Mike was a member of Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs, where he had served as an Elder for many years. He was a very active member, loved and respected by the congregation and always ready and willing to assist in any project in which the church was involved.

He enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Taking them camping, swimming, fishing, boating and sledding barely touches on a few of the things he loved to do with them. Mike was a passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan, having held season tickets since 1993. He immensely loved tailgating with his friends and family before the game. Mike was well known for his outgoing, humorous and fun-loving nature. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1421 Broadway, Hamilton, Ill. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
