Marjorie Ann (Holt) Rule
Marjorie Ann (Holt) Rule, 82, died peacefully while napping on January 1, 2015 at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Marjorie was born on October 6, 1932 to John Homer and Marsha (Chancellor) Holt. She grew up on the family farm with her brother, Kenton. She married Harold D. Rule in 1955 and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage before his passing in July of 2004. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Richard and Robert. For many years the family lived in Liberty, Mo., where Marge ran a beauty shop from her home.
But her heart was always on the farm. In 1973, her family returned to the farm where she continued the family business of raising cattle. She continued this until 2005, a year after she was diagnosed with end stage kidney disease and started on dialysis. Marjorie had moved to the nursing home about a year ago after she began to weaken. While her last days were not spent in the home she loved, she made the best of it -- her innate strength leading her though another stage of life.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Rule, her parents, Homer and Marsha Holt, and her brother, Kenton Holt.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Dean and wife, Becky, and Robert Charles, and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney Mo., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, also in Kearney.
