Mae Showalter
Mae E. Showalter, 93, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center. Ms. Showalter was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Elliott, Iowa, the daughter of Harrison Petty and Ollie Givan Petty. She was married to Daryl Showalter in 1939; he preceded her in death in 2004. She was a homemaker and belonged to the Methodist church.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann DeWitt, Kearney; grandchildren, Amy Marie Wellman, Lyndea Jo Rose and Derek Dennis DeWitt; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 15, at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney. There will also be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, July 18, with services to follow at 2 p.m., all at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Home in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa.
