Norma Evelyn Wood Cummins
Norma Evelyn Wood Cummins, 94, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., died January 22, 2015.
Norma was born December 1, 1920, to Orval C. and Verna B. Wood in Kirksville, Mo. She attended La Plata High School, Mo., and Business College in Chillicothe, Mo. She worked in Washington, D.C., doing secretarial work at the Pentagon before being transferred to the Army War College, until she married Raymond Cummins in 1943. They had four children, Norma, Raymond Jr., Ronald and Jim Cummins.
She was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church where she was very active as Sunday School Secretary, Financial Secretary, WMU President and a Girls Auxiliary Leader. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Surviving her are daughter, Norma Cummins Geiss (Joe); grandsons, Kevin Geiss, Jeremy Geiss, Jerad Cummins, Michael Cummins, Lucas Cummins, and Matthew Cummins; and eight great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Raymond; sons, Raymond Jr., Ronald and Jim; grandson, Brian Cummins; and sisters, Doris Wilhite and Deloma Gorham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at Pisgah Baptist Church, with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. prior. Burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Pisgah Baptist Church.
Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
