Norma Ann King

Norma Ann (Parman) King, age 76, of Kearney, Mo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at NorthCare Hospice surrounded by family. Norma was loved, respected, and admired by her family and friends.

Norma was born Aug. 16, 1934, in rural Orrick, Mo., to her parents, John Raymond and Naomi Alta Parman. On Nov. 21, 1953, Norma married the man of her dreams, Clarence E. King, Jr. They were married for 57 years. Their marriage was a true romance. They had three girls, June, Jill and Joy. Norma reared and cared for her family in the Missouri towns of Elkhorn, Lawson, Excelsior Springs and Kearney.

Norma graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1952. Over her lifetime Norma devoted her time to her family, church and business. She was a Sunday school teacher, home room mom and member of the church choir. She had a deep appreciation for hymnal music. Norma was a bookkeeper and interior decorator for C.E. King Homes. She was also the founder and owner of Annie’s Furniture and Home Accents in Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Norma is survived by her loving husband, Clarence; her daughter, June Hewitt, Kearney; her daughter, Jill Hilke and husband, Patrick, Kansas City; and her daughter, Joy Fahrmeier and husband, Jeremy, Kearney. She is also survived by her three grandchildren who brought much joy to her life, Ryan Hewitt and his fiancée, Katie Stein,f Kearney, Ryan Hilke, Kansas City and Abigail Hilke, Kansas City.

Norma is also survived by a brother, David Parman, Independence, Mo. She also leaves behind her dog and friend, Betsy.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Naomi; and brother, Raymond Parman.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. and the funeral at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the Kearney First Baptist Church in Kearney, Mo. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetary in Excelsior Springs, Mo., immediately after the funeral.

Norma battled her Parkinson’s disease much the same as she lived her life, with grace, courage and dignity.

Her family and friends will greatly miss her love and warm presence.
