Norman Henry Schoen Sr.
Norman H. Schoen, Sr., also known as "Norks" and "Pop", of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and formerly of Danbury, Conn., died peacefully at his home on November 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norm, the son of Benjamin and Marie Schoen, was born on Ocober 4, 1931. He married Evelyn Cordio on May 10, 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin during the Korean War. Norm and Ev had five children. Norm believed in a hard days work and had a long career in the construction field. Upon retirement, he and Ev moved to Excelsior Springs, Mo., where he enjoyed the remaining years of his life.
Norm was survived by his children, Janis and Dennis Watkins of Kearney, Mo., Nancy and Charlie Fairchild of New Fairfield, Conn., Judy and Walter MacKenzie of Kearney, Mo., Allen and Leslie Schoen of Southbury, Conn., and Michael Bishop of Brookfield, Conn.; grandchildren, Greg and Leah Watkins, Brian and Sue Watkins, Jeffrey and Lisa Watkins, Charlene and Ray Pun, Nicholas and Nicole Belot, Jessica and Christiano Costa, Joshua MacKenzie, and Sarah MacKenzie and her fiancee, Joe Wallis, as well as his great grandchildren, Isabella, Julian, Alani, Evan and Maya Watkins, Jaelynn and Aubrie Belot, and Mark J. D'Arinzo, V.
Norm was predeceased by his son, Norman H. Schoen, Jr., his wife, Evelyn, and his grandson, Matthew MacKenzie.
A celebration of his life will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at his home. Services and a burial will follow in Danbury, Conn., at a date and time to be later determined.
