Pamela Diane Stottlemyre Bair

Pam Bair, 68, of Kearney, Mo., passed away June 26, 2016 at her home in Kearney, Mo., surrounded by her family.

Pam was born June 23, 1948 in Kansas City, Mo. to Alice and Grover Stottlemyre. She attended Bolivar High School and Southwest Baptist College, where she met her husband Fred (Don) Bair in 1967 in Algebra Class and they were married in 1968.

Pam and Don raised three children and many friends of their children in Kearney, Mo., where she ran her own business (ABC Bear Child Care), sang in the church choir, participated in Community Theater, was a church youth leader, a Girl and Boy Scout Leader, and taught many grades of Sunday School at the United Methodist Church of Kearney. Pam also told fortunes as the gypsy at Haunted Hallows every year, and was Santa’s Helper at Breakfast with Santa in Kearney. She participated in the Living Nativity for the Methodist Church, and even enjoyed the years when the donkey misbehaved.

Those of us lucky enough to have known her will remember her for her unflagging kindness, her love of music, her faithfulness as a friend, and her love of children.  She could mesmerize a group of wiggling five yearolds with just a book and the power of her voice, and was a wonderful teacher.

Survivors include her mother, Alice Stottlemyre; her sister, Patty McCracken; and her brother, Phil Stottlemyre. She will be most missed by her husband, Don Bair, her children, Weston, Heather, Audrey, and Richie; her seven grandchildren, Seth, Natalie, Eli, Dashiell, Evelyn, Benjamin and Adelina; and by her two devoted sons-in-law, Greg Fortner and Colin McCarthy. She had three beloved nephews and a niece, Bart and Bret Stottlemyre, Michael McCracken, and Emerald Hindery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Kearney, followed by the service at 7 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers or plants, Pam has requested that memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Kearney Choir or Youth Group.

Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
