Paddy Burkholder
Paddy Jane King Burkholder died Monday, September 12, 2016 at Wilshire of Lakewood, Lee's Summit, Mo. She was diagnosed in June with sarcoma and entered hospice care on Tuesday, September 6.
Paddy was born June 10, 1933 in Marceline, Mo. She graduated from Marceline High School in 1951. After high school, she received her nursing degree from General Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
She returned to north central Missouri and was hired by Pershing Memorial Hospital before it opened. She spent 35 years loving the patients, staff and doctors. Chances are if you were born at Pershing, her hands held you first!
On March 25, 1961 she married Robert Burkholder and moved to a farm near Browning, Mo.
Paddy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Jane King; and son, Paul Burkholder; parents, William and Veva King; brothers, Paul, George and Bill King; and sister, Wilma Wren.
She leaves behind two sons, Bill (Kellie), Lee's Summit, M0., and Bob (Karen), Browning; daughter-in-law, Nancy, Montrose, Colo.; and son-in-law, Gus King, Bismark, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Gus King IV, Portia King Diedrich, Ashley Burkholder Nail, Brooke Woody, Peyton Burkholder, Blake Burkholder, Aubrey Burkholder, Abigail Burkholder, Derek Burkholder and Joshua Burkholder; and eight great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Brookfield, Mo. Burial immediately following at Bear Branch Cemetery.
