Robert Lloyd Gabbert
Robbert Lloyd "Bob" Gabbert, 84, formerly of Holt, Mo., passed away, Monday, November 30, 2015 at his winter home in Harlingen, Texas.
Robert Lloyd was born May 12, 1931 in Holt, Mo., to Fielding and Beatrice (Robeson) Gabbert. He graduated from Holt High School where he met Lola Walters and they were married on April 22, 1951.
He worked for Builders Steel, K.W. Dart Truck and Kenworth Truck plants, retiring from Kenworth, at the age of 55, when they closed the Kansas City plant.
He was a past member of the IOOF (Odd Fellows) Lodge in Kearney, and was involved with the Clay County Civil Defense in the early 60's. He was also a past member of the Elks and Moose Lodges.
Robert Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lola.
He is survived by their three children, Kathy Smith and husband, Rodger of Webb City, Mo., Patty Jackson and husband, Bill of Webb City, Mo., formerly of Holt, and Andy Gabbert and wife, Becky of Joplin, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Burgess, Leslie Larson, Rhonda Price, Travis Jackson, Tiffany McCall and Anthony Edwards; and 12 great grandchildren, Lauren, Katelynn and Brennan Burgess, Brooke and Will Larson, Nathan and Trevor Price, Ella, Ava and Brody Jackson, and Kylee and Ryan Edwards.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2015, at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney, Mo. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kearney, Mo.
