Roger Jones
Roger M. Jones, 81, Kearney, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo.Mr. Jones was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Mandeville, the son of Virgil andNettie Stouffer Jones. He worked at Armco Steel from 1951 to 1981, then worked for the city of Kearney for several years after his retirement from Armco. He was a charter member of the Community Covenant Church in Kearney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lowell Jones, Donald Jones and Bill Jones; and three sisters, Vivian Johnson, Faye Chambers and Phyllis Tutt. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Peggy Lowrey Jones, Kearney; one son, Craig Jones, Excelsior Springs; one daughter, Debbie Sharp, Excelsior Springs; two brothers, Chet Jones and Terry Jones; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Community Covenant Church in Kearney, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Covenant Church in Kearney.
