Ruth Evelyn Trosper
Ruth Evelyn Trosper, 86 years old, went peacefully to heaven on October 31, 2014. Ruth was born in Kingston, Mo., on January 25, 1928 to Ollie and Ethel (Smith) Assel. She was near the middle of ten children.
Ruth married, had four children and finally settled down in Independence. There she raised her family and was a clerk at Richard's United Supers for many years. She sewed almost all of her girls' clothes, often hemming them the night before the event. She loved making quilts and had a small business of machine quilting for others. She also loved china painting, happily drawing flowers, birds, barns, even dandelions on plates, cups, tea sets, lamps, and more. She moved to Holt, Mo., and joined the Arley United Methodist Church and the Keepers Club. She worked hard her entire life and liked to be busy, sewing, quilting, gardening, and reading. She lived for two years at Blue Springs Manor in the Independent Living facility and recently moved to be with her daughter, Kathy, in Indiana.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; and four of her brothers, Joe Assel, Phil Assel, Paul Assel, and David Assel.
She leaves behind her four children and their spouses, son, Bob and Connie Trosper, daughter, Kathy and Steve Rodenberger, daughter, Susie and Kevin Dieckman, and son, Larry and Diane Trosper; brother, James Assel; sisters, Betty Duncan, Katheryn Koenig, Mary Smith, and Becky Swimford; as well as 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ruth's family will host a visitation at Arley United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This will be followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon afterwards. Ruth will be greatly missed.
Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
