Sharon Ann Middleton

Sharon Ann (Lyle) Middleton of Kearney, Mo., passed from this earth Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the young age of 51, following a short illness. She was surrounded by her family as Jesus held her in his arms. Sharon was born July 26, 1961 to Jack Lee and Edith Delores (Wray) Lyle in St. Joseph, Mo.

Sharon was our sounding board, giver of advice, our rock and listener. We’d all vent to her and knew we’d find answers to any problem nothing was ever too big or small for her to solve. Above all Sharon loved her family and friends. She loved spending time with them having frequent visitors and social events. She traveled extensively, preferring to ride the 4-wheeler all over the Colorado Rockies with friends and family. She loved crocheting, gardening, staying fit, hanging out with her grandchildren and taking pictures of her loved ones.

Sharon was raised on a farm in Northwest Missouri and was a 1979 graduate of Nodaway Holt High School. She moved to St. Joe shortly after graduation to attend Platt College, where she met Mike and followed him to the Kansas City area. Sharon and Mike were married on September 25, 1981. They shared 32 years together raising three beautiful daughters. She was a member of the Arley Methodist Church, Kearney, Mo.

Sharon was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elbert and Leola (Smith) Wray, and paternal grandparents, William and Ermil Lyle.

She is survived by her parents; husband, Michael V. Middleton of the home; daughters, Jennifer L. (Logan) Wilkin, Amy L. (Jin) Kim, and Stephanie A. Middleton; two grandchildren, Lily Wilkin and Dennis Middleton; brother, Harold (Teresa) Lyle; sisters, Vickie Lyle and Karen Salsbury; brother- and sisters-in-laws, Ruth (Lee) McCann, Lore (Terry) Barnes, John (Mary) Middleton, Richard (Billie) Middleton, and Tom (Shelia) Middleton; along with a large extended family.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Kearney First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, also at the church, with burial following at Arley Cemetery, Kearney, Mo. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be sent in memory of Sharon Ann Middleton to benefit the research for a cure of cholangiocarcinoma made payable to KU Med Center Endowment and sent to 3901 Rainbow Blvd, MS 3012, Kansas City, KS 66160.
