Shirley Ealey Wade

Shirley Wade passed away March 19, 2014, at Lawson, Mo. She was born April 25, 1935 to Bessie and Elmer Ealey of Godfrey, Ill.

In 1953 she married an ordained minister, William R. Wade, of Alton, Ill. They were involved in Southern Baptist pastorates for nearly 20 years, including a move to Kearney, Mo., in 1964 to pastor the First Baptist Church.

Shirley was active in the church and later worked at Farmland Industries, then Liberty Hospital, from which she retired in 1997.

She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, creativity, and natural musical talent. She loved dogs, camping, fishing and travel, as well as several other hobbies throughout the years.

Shirley is survived by four children, Kathy and her husband, Robert Thompson, Kansas City, Mo., Susan Wade, Smithville, Mo., William Jr. and his wife, Lori, Platte City, Mo., and Kyle Wade, Sr. of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Carol and her husband, Jess Huff, Goodland, Kans., and Rose Marie and her husband, Harry Campbell, Alamagordo, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, Sr., her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Mo., with a memorial service to follow.
