Thomas C. Bass
Thomas C. Bass, age 68, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away on September 29, 2012. He was born January 15, 1944 in Sheldon, Mo., the son of Helen and Claude Bass. He was a longtime member of Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs where he enjoyed serving as deacon and elder. He retired from General Motors, Fairfax, Kans. with 36 years service. He had a wide range of interests including golfing, fishing, hunting and was known for his love of horses. Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to everyone he met.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael Bass.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Phyllis J. Bass of the home; son, Terry Bass and grandsons, Jackson, Colton and Nathan of Raymore, Mo.; daughter, Tammy R. Bass and granddaughter, Dominique Sharp of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; son, James E. Ferguson of Overland Park, Kans.; sister, Patricia Sheat and her husband, George of Lamar, Mo.; brother, William Bass of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Martha Bass of Girard, Kans.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 1 p.m. Burial immediately following at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, Mo., located on B Hwy. at Shepherd Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham, Kansas City, MO 64108.
