Timothy Alan Fairley

Timothy Alan Fairley was born in Kansas City, Mo., on January 29, 1958 and became the chosen son of Merrill and Patty Fairley. He passed from this life on June 4, 2015 at the Northcare Hospice and Palliative Care Center, after complications from chronic illness.

Tim was a 1976 graduate of Milan High School, Milan, Mo., and attended college in San Diego, Calif. He was musically gifted, especially in piano. Immediately after high school graduation, Tim joined the Navy and served his country from 1976-1980. During this time, he was stationed in San Diego, where he found himself truly at home and remained for nearly 20 years.

After his discharge from the Navy, Tim was employed by the city of San Diego until 1996 in the City Manager's office, and was referred to as the "Info Man" because of his extensive knowledge of the city. Tim received numerous commendations from city leaders and dignitaries from all over the world, praising his assistance and expertise when they were conducting business in San Diego. He returned to his family in Missouri in 1996 due to declining health.

Tim was greeted in heaven by his dad, with whom he shared an exceptionally close relationship.

Surviving to mourn his loss are his loving mother, Patty, who worked tirelessly to blaze new trails of treatment when Tim's health concerns would threaten his life numerous times; and his sister, Tracy, who adored him as a child and who, along with their parents, was fiercely devoted to his care and comfort.

The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care he received at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center for the past nine years. A host of relatives and friends will long remember Tim's outgoing, fun-loving personality, his gentle soul, and his strong faith in the Lord. He loved animals and supported various animal protection projects. The family suggests contributions to the San Diego Zoo or local animal shelters in Tim's memory.
