Ursula Tate

Ursula Tate passed away peacefully on July 17, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born March 6, 1927, in Breslau, Lower Silesia, Germany. Her family fled their home due to the Russian invasion in 1945 and relocated in West Germany. Ursula later met and married the love of her life, Sargent 1st Class Francis Tate. The couple subsequently moved to the United States following the end of W.W.II. Frank preceded her in death shortly before they would've celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Ursula was active in scouting and very proud of her five Eagle Scouts. She put her children through parochial school and music lessons. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, vacations in Germany and Branson and an occasional Shirley Temple. She loved to polka and anyone within arm's reach would quickly become her dance partner. She was a long time member of St Ann's Catholic Church. Ursula worked part time at Frajos and was also babysitter to numerous neighborhood children through the years.

Ursula is survived by four sons, Frank Jr., Mike, Don (and their spouses) and Tom; one daughter, Rosemary; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Her son, Danny, also preceded her in death

Funeral services for Ursula will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Old New Garden South, also in Excelsior Springs. Ursula will be in state at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home from 1 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014.

Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
