Vera Mast
Vera (Trumbo) Mast, 92, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at her home.
Vera was born, along with her twin brother, Vivian (Bud) on October 5, 1919, in Chula, Mo., the eighth and youngest child of George and Clara (Ricket) Trumbo. Mrs. Mast was a true homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (G.G.), who devoted herself to her own family and loved her church family. Vera was blessed with a long and happy life spent giving to and taking care of others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Hoskey and husband, Marvin, of Maryville, Mo., and Mary Pettegrew and husband, Robert, of the home; a son, Ronald and his wife, Becky, of Smithville, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Ryan Wake of Burnsville, Minn., Laura Ketcherside of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Shawn Wake of Maryville, Mo., Kerri Prom of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Andy Pettegrew of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Nick Pettegrew of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Mary Mast of Smithville, Mo., Lia DePriest of Maryville, Mo., and Tommy Mast of Smithville, Mo.; three step-grandchildren, Mick Hoskey of Maryville, Mo., Carla Hoskey of Des Moines, Ia., and Monte Hoskey of Maryville, Mo.; 11 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs, with a service following at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Chillicothe, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs, Mo.
