William Clyde "Bill" Lea

William Clyde "Bill" Lea passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012. He was born September 26, 1943, in Pacific Grove, Calif., to Clyde Harold Lea and Crystal Frances Marvin-Lea. William graduated Grandview High School class of 1962 and went on to serve four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Ranger. Bill's active duty included serving during the Cuban Missile Crises and the beginning of the Vietnam War, from there he went on to meet and marry Patricia Ann Buzzard and start his career with Hallmark Cards in the Warehouse Division. Bill retired from Hallmark during the winter of 2002. Bill was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Asbestosis in the spring of 2011 and spent the last 15 months fighting a courageous battle.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Crystal Lea, and spouse, Patricia Ann Lea.

He is survived by his daughter, Becky Slack and son-in-law, Jeff Slack of Cape Coral, Fla.; son, Brian Lea and daughter-in-law, Linda Lea of Kansas City, Mo.; granddaughter, Brooke Kaylea Slack; grandson, Evan William Lea; and companion, Shirley Thiele of Raymore, Mo.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Mo., with graveside services held Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery Kearney, Mo. The family suggests contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
