Wade Shanks
Wade Shanks, 85, Kearney, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009. Mr. Shanks was born July 25, 1924, in Kearney, the son of Harry and Pauline Wade Shanks. He was a lifelong area resident, a cattleman and farmer for 67 years and a member of the Kearney School Board.
Survivors include his sons, Gary Shanks, Brad Shanks and Dennis Shanks, all of Kearney; daughters, Vicky McKinney, Kansas City, and Paula York, Weatherby Lake; and one sister, Shirley Jardine-Shanks, Santa Barbara, Calif.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at First Christian Church in Kearney. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the church. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Kearney. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
