Arthur Faunce

Arthur FaunceArthur Faunce, 77, of Holt, Mo., passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 due to complications from pneumonia. He was surrounded by family as he peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Arthur was a Christmas baby born on December 25, 1939 in Leon, Iowa. He graduated from Graceland College in Lamoni where he met his bride of nearly 54 years, Georgia “Jo” Mayhew. They were married June 15, 1963.

He began his working career teaching Science and Physical Education at West Harrison School District, Iowa, where he also coached football, basketball, wrestling, baseball and track. It was his love of sports and exercise combined with an entrepreneurial spirit that drew him away from teaching to pursue his dream of revolutionizing the exercise world and athlete training programs.

He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and mentor. He was such a positive force and touched so many lives. You could always count on Art to share his contagious smile, positive attitude, and quick wit. He combined this with a genuine love and kindness for others that drew people to him like a magnet.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe, and mother, Grace (Edwards) Faunce.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia “Jo”; son, Troy (Rita) Faunce; daughter, Kim Wagner; daughter, Jenifer Fletcher; son, Steve (Erica) Faunce; grandsons, Cassidy, Brandyn, Trent, Chandler, Trey, Drake, Luke, Chace, and Lane; granddaughters, Autumn and Michaela; and soon to arrive great-granddaughter, Madeline; brothers, Ed (Helen) Faunce, and Bill (Judi) Faunce; and sister, Jan (Bob) Lipp.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service is planned for March 18, 2017 with visitation starting at 1 p.m. and service to start at 2 p.m. It will be at the South Crysler Restoration Church, 16101 E Salisbury Rd., Independence, MO 64050.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests considering a donation to one of the following charities in the name of Art Faunce: Adler Aphasia Center, Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Wayside Waifs.

Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
