Stephen “Steve” Carlyle Tietsort, 59, of Excelsior Springs, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Excelsior Springs Hospital.
Steve was born on November 28, 1958 in Kirksville, Mo., to the late Keith Tietsort and the late Marjorie (Morrison) Johnson. He attended school in La Plata and has stayed in touch with hometown friends through the years.
Steve loved his job as a directional boring technician with Smoyer Cable and was a loyal employee for over 30 years. Steve’s hobbies were hunting, fishing and talking to people from all over the world on his ham radio. He was a die-hard Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching the games with friends and family. He has many friends and loved visiting with them and swapping stories. He could always find something to talk about with anyone, friend or stranger.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Elaine (Stadley) Morrison, and his parents, Keith Tietsort and Marjorie (Morrison) Johnson.
Steve is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Drennan) Tietsort, and daughter, Leslie Carole Tietsort, both of Excelsior Springs; a stepson, Joshua Lee Smith (Ashley) and grandchildren, Jayden, Jordan, Joshlynn, Carson, Caydence, and Jayce of Kirksville; three sisters, Cheryl Poore (Kevin) of Columbia, Connie Tietsort of Columbia and Sandra Dobbs (Mike) of La Plata; two nephews, Ryan Dobbs of Columbia and Nicholas Tietsort of Mexico; and three nieces, Misty Dobbs of Atlanta, Shelby Dobbs of Lancaster and Nikita Tietsort of Columbia.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Masonic Lodge, 209 E. Colbern, La Plata, MO 63549. Dress casual.
